The Jit-Pook-Cooh collective in the state of Campeche, Mexico, handcraft these wonderful fans.

This group of Mayan women cultivate the "Jipi Japa" palm tree, known for its delicacy. The palm leaves are cut, dried, sometimes colored with plants and roots, and then braided in a basement. The moisture there helps to soften the fiber even more.
