Beautiful basket made from old wicker. As it comes with a wooden lid it is a very special and rare piece.
The baskets were once used in China to store vinegar or oil, probably for lamps. An applied loam or leather paste protected the baskets from water. Over time, the paste has cracked and a unique patina has developed on the surface.
