The wood has darkened over the years. Almost black in some areas, with warm brown tones emerging in others. The surface is rough and uneven, marked by use. Nothing about it is polished or decorative – everything feels honest.
This mask originates from the Ivory Coast and is attributed to the Senufo culture. Characteristic are the rising antelope horns, which extend the elongated, reduced form upward. Such masks were traditionally used during ritual occasions and initiation ceremonies.
The mask is presented on a simple metal stand.
