Pair of very large antique black-glazed storage vessels from Shanxi Province, northern China. Originally used as rice containers.
Both vessels have a tall vertical shape, a broad body, and a low neck with a flat upper rim. The dark glazed surface shows visible wear and traces of use. Each vessel is unique, with small differences in shape, glaze, surface, and rim.
The pair is best placed together in a larger interior – beside a console, in an entrance, or as part of a larger composition.
Sold as a pair.
