Guardians of the roof – Burmese chofas, 200 years old
For over two centuries, these chofas — elegant wooden finials from Burma — crowned the ends of rooftops, their upward curves shaped like the beak of a celestial bird. More than decoration, they were protectors: keeping misfortune away, while inviting good spirits to settle in the home.
Each chofa tells a story of devotion and craftsmanship. Weathered by monsoon rains and tropical sun, the wood still holds the quiet strength of its purpose — a blessing carved into form.
Today, these rare finds are among the signature pieces of our collection – unique originals available exclusively through us. True to their origin, they are offered only as a pair: two guardians that together bring balance, protection, and a touch of the mystical into any contemporary interior.
