Borana milk container
Tax included (EU). Shipping calculated at checkout
Both vessels originate from the Borana culture in Ethiopia. Traditionally, they were used to store milk or butter. The narrow opening and leather strap reflect their functional design.
Woven forms with a compact, balanced shape. The material is firm and structured, reinforced with leather bands. The surfaces show natural variation from use, yet remain stable and intact.
Densely set cowrie shells run in vertical lines across the body. They are not decorative in a modern sense – they are part of the object and its cultural context. On one container, small colored beads accent the upper edge. The other appears calmer and more reduced in its expression.
