about srepokk
A tropical plant traditionally used in Vietnam for bath sponges.
How the shade is made: The dried loofah core is sewn together with linen fabric, combining handwork and machine sewing. A thin, hidden steel frame allows the form to be shaped and customized.
For centuries, Vietnamese Dó paper has been valued for its remarkable durability – it does not tear, even when wet. Its natural qualities allow handwritten messages to be applied before the paper is wetted and layered sheet by sheet. Through this process, a subtle depth is created – present, yet not immediately visible.
When the light is off, the shade appears minimal and quiet. Once illuminated, layers of light and shadow emerge, revealing gentle contrasts between the hidden writing and the raw texture of the paper.
The uniqueness of each base lies in the organic blend of terracotta and deep black tones. At the final stage of firing, natural materials such as rice husks and sawdust are added. In the intense heat, they ignite and carbonize, transforming the surface into rich, dark shades.
Because of this unpredictable interaction between fire and clay, every piece emerges with its own character and color tone – no two are ever the same, even within the same batch.
SREPOKK is a brand rooted in traditional Vietnamese craftsmanship. All pieces are handcrafted using natural, eco-friendly materials, created in close collaboration with artisans from rural villages across Vietnam.
Mai, founder of SREPOKK, believes, and so do I, that the best way to preserve cultural heritage is not to lock it away, but to bring it into the warmth of everyday homes.
rooted in nature, shaped into light
Through careful craftsmanship, loofah fiber is given a new life – softened by linen, shaped by hand, defined by light.
If I were 10 years younger
Beauty is often tied to the present, yet nostalgia carries a quiet clarity. Past regrets become markers of growth rather than loss. The focus turns inward – away from comparison, toward intention, creation, and awareness of time. This mindset is woven into the collection. In a noisy world, the objects invite stillness and reflection, offering a gentle reminder that a life shaped with care leaves little room for “what if.”
