A rare antique Chinese coat, mounted in a deep frame and presented as a three-dimensional wall piece.
Traditionally worn by farmers and fishermen in Southern China, this handwoven rain coat was made from natural coconut fibers. The open weave offered protection from heavy rain while still allowing ventilation – a simple and highly functional piece of utilitarian clothing from another time.
The high collar gives the garment an unusually strong silhouette. Mounted in a stained wooden frame, it becomes less a garment and more an outstanding object for the wall.
A rare piece for interiors with a wabi-sabi, organic or understated aesthetic. It can be displayed hanging on the wall or placed on a low console or sideboard.
