This Makenge wall basket testifies to the weaving skills of the Mbundu and Losi in Zambia. These are original pieces that were used to sift the grains used in cooking.

The baskets are made from the makenge tree, a small tree that sends out very long and shallow roots. These roots are boiled and colored with natural pigments.
