Kang table black patina

Originally used as low platform table in northern China, these Kang tables date back to the mid 20th century. Traditionally placed on heated brick beds (kang), they were part of everyday life – used for sitting, eating, working, and resting.

Many Kang tables today are seen in faded grey or natural finishes. Over decades, these pieces have developed a deep, matte black. Its surface bears visible traces of the past: scratches, wear, softened edges. Nothing has been restored or altered. Each Kang table is unique in tone, proportion, and surface.
