20c Miao Kimono

A traditional textile jacket from the Miao people of Guizhou Province in southwestern China.

The piece is made from dark handwoven fabric and finished with finely worked decorative textile panels along the sleeves, shoulders and front opening. The patterned sections show the detailed pleating and embroidery techniques associated with Miao textile work.

The jacket remains in its original 20th-century condition, with visible signs of age and use.
